A BIG thank you to those of you who have been in touch with me about the CRB Enhanced Disclosures. If you haven’t yet contacted me with your details, I’d love to hear from you. I’d like to remind you that if you are working with young people under 18 years of age you need to hold a current CRB Enhanced Disclosure (they are current for 3 years from the date of issue). Whilst it isn’t compulsory for you to have one as far as your insurance cover is concerned, it is BWY Policy that you do so. If there should be circumstances where a claim is made, the insurers would check that BWY Policy has been followed, and if it hasn’t, the cover could be invalidated. So I do urge you, please, to contact me if you need to do so.
The 2005 updated version of Child Protection (CP) Policy is now available on our website. If you wish to have a printed version, please contact me. The Equity Policy can also be accessed in the same way.
If you already have your printed copy of the CP Policy, please make the following deletion on page 6: "If possible, written witness/es statement/s of the alleged ‘incident’ " plus take out "and" from the previous line. Thank you.
Since taking on my role as EEWM, I have enjoyed speaking with many of you who have made enquiries about child protection or equity. From your general comments, I am receiving the message that you are finding it helpful and supportive to have a referral point. Several of you have expressed your sense of reassurance that The Wheel now has the CP and Equity Policies in place, and are pleased that we are actively working on their implementation. I am very encouraged by this.
I look forward to being in contact with more of you, either by telephone or email, should you have a query on Child Protection or Equity that you wish to discuss.
