Give-as-you-earn
A monthly donation to BWY of say £10 through your salary will only cost you £7.80 (basic rate tax-payer). You could also opt for your own Personal Charity Account from which you can make planned and/or spontaneous tax-free gifts to charities like BWY. The IR will supplement your donations with 10% for 3 years starting in April 2000. Please find out from your employer, if these options are available through your company.
Gift aid
Introduced by the government as replacement for the old Deed of Covenant, donations given with a Gift Aid declaration enable the BWY to reclaim the tax.
Legacies
When you renew your will the next time and/or are currently considering making a will, please think of BWY as one of your estate's beneficiaries. The Wheel as one of your favourite charities would welcome a financial injection however small.
Donated shares
If you want to get rid of some shares, be charitable and take a slice off your tax bill, you may want to consider donating your shares to BWY. New tax incentives were introduced in April 2000 significantly reducing the Captial Gains Tax you pay. For further details please obtain financial advice.
Tax refunds from self assessment
You can now nominate BWY as your preferred charity when you are filling in your tax self-assessment forms. Simply quote PAQ26FG and any refund due to you will be credited to the BWY. Please also sign the Gift Aid declaration on your return.
