Foundation Course Training Information Pack
You will be provided with a comprehensive BWY Foundation Course Pack designed to provide you with everything required to enable you to set up your Foundation Course (FC).Assessment
This is an assessed course and informal/formal assessment will be ongoing throughout the training. The training consists of a residential two-day induction element, followed by submission of a full course plan and ongoing supervision once approval has been granted to run Foundation Courses. Candidates accepted for training are required to achieve competence in all required areas before a certificate of completion can be awarded.Induction Weekend
Micro Teach - You will be asked to teach a half hour session to the rest of the group, highlighting a "given" aspect of the Foundation Course syllabus.Lesson planning - You will be asked to prepare a lesson plan and a supporting handout of your teaching session.
You will be expected to:
- Actively participate in the practical sessions.
- Enter discussion in the theoretical parts of the course.
- Participate in group/pair work
Support
The Foundation Course Training Team will be available to answer questions relating to the course materials or any other questions during the training. Additionally the Foundation Course Officer will provide you with any practical advice via email during the planning phase of your first Foundation Course. It is recommended that trainees attend Teachers’ Training Week in July for a 1 day session as part of the review process. Attendance would become compulsory in the event of any concerns highlighted by the verifier during verification of a trainee’s Foundation Course.Certification
On completion of the training, the Certificate of FC Tutor status will be given once the following criteria have been met:- Approval by the Foundation Course Officer of a course plan submitted by the trainee
- Completion of any prescribed action plan subsequent to the training (where applicable)
