Ayurveda and Yoga Practice
AIMS
1. To briefly review some key principles of ayurveda (including dosha, prakruti and vikruti)
2. To describe and discuss the qualities and effects of different types of yoga practices (including asana, pranayama, kriya, mantra and meditation) on the balance of the doshas
3. To provide a simple template and guidance for keeping a diary of personal yoga practice.
4. To offer guidance on ways in which personal yoga practice may be adapted/modified to support the individual’s ayurvedic constitution.

OBJECTIVES – those who complete the course will/should be able to:
1. Describe their essential ayurvedic constitution (prakruti) and their current condition (vikruti).
2. Appreciate that their vikruti may be affected by lifestyle factors, including yoga practice.
3. Keep a record of their usual yoga practice for one week and analyse their findings in terms of any likely effects on their doshic balance.
4 Identify any aspects of their current yoga practice that are likely to be helpful or unhelpful for maintaining their natural optimal balance of the doshas.
5. Modify/adapt their practice to try to make it better suited to their constitution and observe/evaluate any effects of the modified practice (after keeping a practice diary for a second week).

METHODS OF PRESENTING THE SUBJECT
Keeping a diary of personal yoga practice for two weeks (one week of usual practice and one week of practice modified on the basis of observations of effects of usual practice and analysis of ayurvedic constitution) and recording observations and any proposed changes on Worksheets 1 & 2 (to be sent to Tutor for comments /advice).

ABOUT THE TUTOR: FELICITY LEIGH
OUTLINE PLAN FOR THE RUNNING OF THE COURSE
- You will Register and pay on line. Print out these two pages to keep track.
- Your Tutor will be informed through the web site that you have been registered and will receive confirmation of all your contact details which you have filled in on line at 1. above.
- Your Tutor will send you a welcome letter with all their own contact details (by email) confirming to you within a few days, unless away on holiday.
- At the same time, they will give you a date for when you can expect to receive your material. This may be within 2 weeks or six months depending upon the course start date you have chosen
- Confirm to your Tutor, when you receive your course material, and also contact by email or phone should you have any queries.
There will be 2 CD’s. CD 1 will be the audio information CD.
CD2 will have the course material files on.
You will download CD 2 onto your PC.and print off, to give you a clearer overall view.
Then you will work on screen for the material which is to be returned to your Tutor. - Begin your course.
- You will have all the dates for completion in the letter you have had at 4. Above.
- Follow the dates carefully and let your Tutor know, should there be any holdup due to health, life event etc.
- When you have returned all your material to your Tutor and your Tutor has returned the material back to you, with their comments, then confirm that you have received it.
- Finally, to complete the course, you will go back on line into your membership number and your original password chosen when at 1. above. Bring up the course evaluation page and fill in on line.
- When you enter the completed Evaluation, you will only then be registered as completed and gain the 7.5 CPD points and receive your Certificate.
So. Please make sure that you send the Evaluation, otherwise your Office record will not be ‘official’ - There will be an additional button on your course tabs which you can enter to pass any other comments about the course and also suggestions for future topics
The course is expected to take between 5 to 6 hours of your time, but you can take more if you want to. If you miss the completion dates without an agreed reason, then you may keep the material but not have a refund.
