Teachers Training Week 2011

Despite the very British weather (rain, wind, a cold snap and eventually the sun) a lot of learning and laughter was packed into the five days of Teacher's Training Week  in July. Experienced  tutors offered over 75 hours of workshops to encourage delegates to diversify their asana practice, understand a variety of breathing techniques and experience different styles of meditation. Sessions covered everything from the anatomy of the knee to Scaravelli, from classical pranayama to teaching strategies, and  from sound in yoga nidra to jala neti. And if that wasn't enough some chose to renew their first aid certificates as well! When you are working that hard you need downtime. Our thanks go to Zoe Knott and her able assistant Gillian Gee for their very entertaining quiz (we are still laughing at some of the innovative ways you managed to squeeze yoga into the questions) and to Pat Sharp for escorting an enthusiastic group of yogis around  Leicester University Botanical Gardens and the fantastic display of sculpture currently housed there. Leicester University is a new venue for us and there were a few glitches to overcome but by the end of the week it felt like home. We will be back there again next year from 16 - 20 July. Confirmed tutors include Ruth Gilmore and Angela Ashwin. If you would like more information get in contact with Jeanne Rae, Marketing and Event's Coordinator.
