Update from the BWY Chair Helen Smith
Dear Friends,
First of all, thank you to anyone who has contacted me. It has come to my attention that we have an emailing problem with the system of divert (official) addresses that we use in the BWY. Therefore, some officers are not receiving emails, for which I apologise. We are trying to correct it. In the meantime, I am obviously very concerned if anyone has contacted me by email and received no response. If that is the case, please use , or write to me via Central Office. I quite like letters!
In my summer article I said that the chief executive officer and I would be writing a piece on lines of communication in the organisation. The current email problem has caused us to pause and think some more about this, so we will be producing that article once we have reviewed where we are going and sorted out any changes that have to be made. It should appear in the Winter 2007 edition.
My first National Executive Committee meeting at the end of June was hard work but a pleasure because it felt as though the new committee is finding its feet as a decision-making body and shaping the future development of the BWY in a dynamic way, anticipating events and getting ahead of the game. For example, we took the decision to actively consider the future structure and organisation of the BWY – in terms of whether we should continue to be a charity, become an incorporated charity, a limited company or some other appropriate body. We will let you know via Spectrum what the options are and will be asking you for your comments and views. Thank you to everyone on the executive team for their commitment and effort.
Finally, at the risk of repeating myself, this is an exciting time for us all. There is a great deal to do, but please be assured that as we modernise the Wheel to ensure our place and future in the world of yoga, our tradition and heritage will not be compromised.
Yours in Yoga
Helen
