A Paid Opportunity to Teach Primary School Children Yoga
National charity SportInspired
are looking for fun and innovative yoga teachers who are comfortable delivering sessions either in person or online (over Zoom) to primary school children.
Over 12 years Sportsinspired have developed an award-winning delivery model that leverages the power of fun to improve the physical and mental well-being of children, young people, and families in the UK's most deprived communities. In normal times, children in these communities are three times more likely to experience mental well-being issues than their peers and twice as likely to face obesity by age 11. Now, faced with Covid-19, the consequences of deprivation on these children and their communities are exacerbated.
In the coming months they have secured funding to teach children yoga in the top 20% of deprived areas of the UK in the following locations:
•Basildon, Birmingham, Blackburn, Edinburgh (West), Glasgow, Nottingham, Stockport, and Thanet
•London: Barking & Dagenham, Brent, Camden, Colliers Wood, Hackney, Haringey, Ilford, Islington, Lambeth, London Fields, Southwark, and Tower Hamlets.
For future opportunities they always try to match schools with local teachers, so please do only apply in you are local to schools in those areas. The funding they have in place is £30 per hour for up to 20 weeks.
If you can deliver sessions in schools in one of these areas in the summer term, please register your interest by emailing Rebecca Morris
with your name and contact number and where you’re based.
If opportunities in your area are available, Felix Sullivan from SportsInspired will be in contact directly to discuss the next steps with you.
