Barry Jackson of BriskAid Training has over 25 years of medical experience and will lead this course, approved by the awarding body QUALSAFE.

A certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course and is valid for 3 years - please bring an A4 SAE with large letter stamp.

This one day course  will cover the following areas :

  • Importance of preventing cross infection
  • Need for recording incidents and actions
  • Use of available equipment
  • Assessing situations and circumstances to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  • Unconscious casualties including seizures
  • CPR
  • Choking
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Shock
  • First aid for minor injuries
  • How to use a defibrillator

Please note: It is advisable that students wear comfortable clothes, which are practical for various role-play situations (e.g. safety footwear, track-suits, jeans etc. – not skirts). Please do not wear lipstick as this marks the models when practicing. For those with long hair, a hair-band will help when practicing techniques. All students should be in full health on the days of the course as there may be some practical work involved. Students will be issued with a manual during the course, which has space for small amounts of note taking. Please bring an A4 SAE (large letter stamp) on the day so your certificate can be  posted on to you once you have  successfully completed the course.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided on the day, please bring your own mug and packed lunch on the day.

Please bring a notebook and pencil, a first aid manual will be issued to attendees on the day.
