Kari Knight trained with the BWY under Viniyoga teacher Margaret Woodley, completing a 500-hour diploma in 2004. Kari has taken further teacher training and holds Levels I and II Yin/Yang and Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training (Insight Yoga). As well as specialising in teaching Yin yoga and mindfulness in community classes currently online, Kari specialises in teaching yoga for cancer, restorative yoga and Yoga Nidra. Kari runs the British Wheel of Yoga Teacher Training Module: "Working Therapeutically with Cancer", BWYT Foundation Courses 1 and 2, and recently qualified as a Diploma Course Tutor.
Aims of the Day
Develop an understanding of cancer as a life-challenging illness, the Big C representing Change and how a cancer diagnosis becomes a catalyst for healing To consider the key components which have inclusivity for all: Pawanmuktasana, simple breath and movement, breathing exercises, letting-go types of relaxation and breath awareness meditation for difficult emotions To cover modifications and precautions for common cancers, with special focus on breast and prostate which are commonly seen in community classes
By the end of the session students will: Have an overview of cancer, how a cell forms, types of cancer and treatments available be converse with and integrate key, inclusive practices into their community classes Recognise the need to cultivate Vairagya and the teaching skills needed in order to prevent becoming emotionally and energetically drained will gather, evaluate and feel confident to work with someone with a cancer diagnosis in their mixed ability community classes Deepen their appreciation of the simplicity of breath and movement to improve respiration, circulation and increase energy flow

In case of any cancellation:
1. The event organiser will offer to transfer a person to another event which is on the BWY website.
2. If this is not possible the event organiser will follow the BWY cancellation policy: • Within 2 months of the event a full refund can be made • Between 8 weeks and 4 weeks prior to the event 50% of the fee (a full refund can be made if there is a waiting list for the event) • 1 month to 1 week – 25% of fee paid • 7 days’ notice no refund.
3. The event organiser will ask the Treasurer to refund the person by BACS – cheque refunds will only be given in exceptional circumstances.
