An Introduction to Iyengar with Kate Middleton 10 - 11.30am
Part of the Eastern Region International Day of Yoga Celebration
Iyengar Yoga is characterised by its attention to postural alignment and body awareness. This class will guide you through and introductory spectrum of poses suitable for any age and fitness ability.
We begin with some poses to centre ourselves, then progress to simple standing postures, these may be challenging but explanations will guide through degrees of difficulty. Following on from this will be some seated postures and relaxation completing the practice.
Props will be needed to get the best out of the practice. A selection of blankets, bricks, blocks, a belt and a chair can be substituted with books, sofa cushions, dressing-gown belts or sofas. Bolsters and a wall space would also be beneficial but not essential.
This class will not be suitable for those who are pregnant or have a serious medical condition or injury. Please message minor complaints through the zoom chat on the day.
Kate Middleton is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher and Cambridge rep on the IYUK Executive council. Kate discovered a passion for yoga in her early 20s, she found that the depth of the explanations offered in the Iyengar tradition enabled attention and exploration to occur in the body with more clarity and the discipline it requires brings forth endless inspiration.
