Petra Coveney is the creator and founder of Menopause Yoga (2013) - the world's first menopause specific style of yoga. She developed this practice after her own experience of menopause and the physical, psychological and emotional symptoms linked to the decline in a woman's fertility hormones and this stage of life. She is a member of the British Menopause Society for health practitioners and works with menopause specialist doctors, nutritionists, and complimentary therapists. In 2019, due to requests women attending her workshops and teachers wanting to share this practice, Petra created the first Menopause Yoga training course for qualified yoga teachers. With the support of the British Wheel of Yoga, Petra began offering this training Module in 2019 and has since then trained over more than 300 teachers world-wide in at least 15 countries. In 2021, she began offering short CPD Menopause Awareness courses for male and female qualified yoga teachers and other bodywork instructors. Petra's approach brings together factual information from western medical science and eastern wellbeing practices that include yoga, pranayama, mindfulness meditation - as well as women's circles and journal writing. Her workshops also include basic guidelines on nutrition, natural remedies, complimentary therapies and Hormone Replacement Therapy. Her unique approach is designed to Educate women about the menopause so that they can make informed choices, Empower them with simple yoga, breathing and meditation and factual information, and encourage them to Embrace the menopause as an opportunity for self insight and growth. On October 21st, 2021, her book 'Menopause Yoga - a Holistic Guide to Supporting Women Through the Menopause' will be published in the UK and USA by SingingDragon/Jessica Kingsley Publishing.
