Kundalini Yoga is the path to freedom. An esoteric and much misunderstood yoga. Kundalini Yoga is in fact a practical and powerful tool for self-development. Swami Radha has developed an approach that takes the wisdom of this ancient system and makes it accessible to daily life.  In Kundalini Yoga, you investigate your own mind and consciousness. By asking important questions, studying the symbolism of the chakras and practicing reflection and meditation exercises, you begin an exploration of consciousness and build the foundation for character, courage and awareness in your life.  JaneCatherine Aldiss is a Yasodhara Yoga Teacher, as well as a Senior Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance UK and teaches The Hidden Language of Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga and Dream Yoga workshops in the Yasodhara Yoga tradition. She has practiced yoga since 1991 and taught since 1999.

Aims of the Day:

To introduce participants to the Kundalini System as taught by Swami Sivananda Radha, author of Kundalini Yoga for The West. To explore Kundalini Symbolism, relating it to what is current in participants lives. To explore Kundalini as a system.

Equipment Required:

Journal and pen. Comfortable seating such as a block or cushion to keep the spine upright for meditation and other practices, perhaps a blanket for warmth.

Learning Outcomes:

During the event, each participant will experience the Kundalini System in a creative and accessible way as well as being facilitated in having a uniquely and personally relevant experience. By the end of the event participants will have a clearer and deeper understanding of the Kundalini System and how it can be accessed and applied on a personal and practical level. They will learn how supporting practices help to access the powers of the mind and facilitate integration of their experience, as well as identifying an action to carry forward from their exploration. Participants will learn practical tools to take forward into their own exploration of the Kundalini System and the practices outlined in Kundalini Yoga for The West.

Timetable of the day:

10-12.30 Introduction and Key Ideas. Entering into the System 12.30 - 3.00 Lunch and personal reflection break ideally in silence, with allocated study. 3.00- 4.00 Continuing to give the experience of the process of working with the whole system. Review, and define application.

Teas and Coffees provided, please bring your own lunch.

In case of any cancellation:

1. The event organiser will offer to transfer a person to another event which is on the BWY website. 
2. If this is not possible the event organiser will follow the BWY cancellation policy: • Within 2 months of the event a full refund can be made • Between 8 weeks and 4 weeks prior to the event 50% of the fee (a full refund can be made if there is a waiting list for the event) • 1 month to 1 week – 25% of fee paid • 7 days notice no refund.
3. The event organiser will ask the Treasurer to refund the person by BACS – cheque refunds will only be given in exceptional circumstances.

Summary

About JaneCatherine ALDISS

JaneCatherine was introduced to yoga via her mother, who practiced Pranayama Yoga in the 60's and 70's. She has searched for a deeper meaning to life since 1978, and has been fascinated by philosophy from 1982-present. In 1984, she commenced a tai chi, and psychocalisthenics practice, and learned a fascial release method called Chua Ka. Around this time, she started to experience acupuncture, cranio sacral, Rolfing, and homeopathy, and the Chinese Five Element system. 

Between 1988- 94 Jane worked as a Shiatsu Practitioner, and during this time practiced Chi Kung, and Makkho stretches, and started more formal studies of the Chinese Five Element system. 

In 1990 Jane started an ante (and subsequently post) natal yoga in, and, in 1996, commenced daily practice. 

Since 1990, involved with psychotherapeutic exploration both in peer groups and on a one to one basis., emerging from the urge to seek a deeper meaning to life, and, in the words of Socrates, to 'Know thyself', complementing the movement practice, and helping to understand the workings of the mind.

1997-8, studying with Bill Palmer, attending a one year post graduate movement Shiatsu course.
 1999: started to teach yoga, commencing a three year BWY teaching diploma in 2000. March/April 2003, two weeks meditation, asana, pranayama and philosophy study at Yoga Niketan in Rishikesh, India.

Late April 2003, experienced the teachings of Angela Farmer and Victor van Kooten, on a two day workshop in Hampshire, and, in June that year, attended a three week intensive 'teacher untraining' with them in Lesvos, Greece. 

Subsequently, inspired through working with, amongst others, Donna Farhi (four day intensive), Sandra Sabatini (weekend workshop) and Billy Doyle (various day, week, evening classes and courses).

2006-2011: teaching the Pancha Tattva - the Vedic Five Element System, which comes through deep familiarisation from many years of being immersed in both the Chinese and the Vedic models. 
November 2007: committed to daily meditation practice. September 08-May 2009 attended Gary Carters Anatomy Course for Yoga Teachers. November 09-June 10 assisted Gary on subsequent Anatomy Diploma Courses- Bury St Edmunds, and Windsor.

June 2010: ten days study with Rosella Baroncini in Florence, 90 minutes private tuition and one class (1.5 hours) daily. Rosella was a student of Vanda Scaravelli between 1983 and 1999.  
Between October 2010 and March 2011, recommenced studies with Bill Palmer, exploring how to teach and learn experientially in an Experiential course for teachers and practitioners of shiatsu and movement. April 2010 to the October 2011: Continuing Personal Development sessions in Body Psychotherapy and Developmental Movement Practice. Weekly sessions with Linda Hartley, author of Wisdom of the Body Moving. When integrated within asana practice, Developmental Principles can be a gateway to profound experiences, giving depth, roundness, integration, subtlety, and organic harmony. September 2011 One day workshop with Sophie Hoare, who worked with Vanda Scaravelli for ten years. 
 October 2011- June 2012 Spent four months on and off living deep in the jungle in Nepal within the sangha of Guru Mahasambhodi DarmaSangha December 2011-December 2012 Sabbatical January 2013 Recommenced teaching Yoga January 2016 Attended the three month Yoga development Course at Yasodhara Ashram in BC Canada April 2016 Yasodhara Yoga Hatha Teacher Certification at Yasodhara Ashram in BC Canada August 2017 Kundalini and Dream Yoga Teacher Certification at Yasodhara Ashram in BC Canada
 2018 Started to teach and cater for weekend and up to 5 day retreats. December 1st 2017 Foundation in Food Safety Certificate April 8th 2018 Emergency First Aid at Work August 2018 Yasodhara Hidden Language of Hatha Yoga Teacher Certification at Yasodhara Ashram BC Canada. October 2019 Took students to Yasodhara Ashram for the Ten Days of Yoga Journey and One Month Karma Yoga Programme. Offered karma yoga, and teaching Hidden Language of Hatha Yoga, Dream and Kundalini workshops and classes. JaneCatherine is now a dedicated Yasodhara Yoga teacher and offers Hidden Language of Hatha Yoga classes as well as Dream and Kundalini workshops and Satsangs in the tradition of the Saraswati lineage. She is based in Norwich UK and teaches on line as well as in Europe and Canada in person when circumstances permit.
