Open Day with Elaine Fletcher

Time: 10:00 - 16:00
Elaine has practiced yoga since the early 1980's, teaching for more than twenty years.
In 1994 Elaine qualified as a teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga - the largest yoga organization in the U.K. Her approach to asana has been influenced by working with well respected teachers , Peter Blackaby and John Stirk who draw on their knowledge from osteopathy, to encourage practice that focuses on the natural alignment of the body. Utilizing the role of the breath to create movement and release tension is also key in refining awareness and promoting a sense of well- being.
In this practical Open Day workshop, Elaine will be focusing on exploring
How we interpret ‘sthira’steadiness, support in asana - which will include finding
support through our feet, hands and the more subtle aspects
of support through breath and bandha – balancing this
with ‘sukha’ ease, finding ‘the sweet spot ‘ in our
In the afternoon, we will explore the more subtle ways we may interpret balance, both in our yoga practice and also in our everyday life.
The afternoon will also include an opportunity to release hips in preparation for seated practices, pranayama, means of encouraging quietening of the senses and time for relaxation to absorb.
