Three student yoga teachers are going to take you on a journey in our 3 hours member afternoon.
Practising Ahimsa and opening the heart - challenging your inner critic
Join Claire, Lisa and Kaya for a workshop exploring the principle of ahimsa in asana practise, considering how to tackle negative and critical self-thoughts with compassion and courage through a physical yoga practise.
Lisa, Kaya and Claire will guide you through an exploration of heart openers, mindful movement and mantras; considering the use of asana and breath to deepen our awareness of non-violence towards oneself.
This afternoon session will focus on opening the heart chakra (Anahata), encouraging the individual to trust in the beauty of vulnerability and have the strength to surrender. So often life presents emotionally challenging and damaging lessons which can leave us feeling overly critical, creating a negative mental dialogue that leaves us feeling drained of our vital energy force. By opening our hearts to compassion and incorporating the first of the Yamas, Ahimsa (non- violence), into our daily lives we can develop a mind set that provides support and inspires the spirit to have faith.
Drawing on their own personal experiences, Lisa, Kaya and Claire will each present a different approach to learning to love yourself through yoga, so that doors can open to a life filled with satisfaction. Until the mental chatter is governed by the love from the heart, peace cannot be found.
Let’s go on a journey of self-discovery to a place of unconditional love through the practice of asanas and meditation, it is time to open our hearts.
Claire has a background in the performing arts having trained from a young age as a professional dancer. Claire is a qualified dance teacher for the ISTD, and has a Master’s degree from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Claire has studied yoga under Hana Saotome of Mindful Movements London for several years and has completed the BWY Foundation Course. Claire is currently a student on the BWY Women of Colour Diploma 4 Yoga Teacher Training course and is passionate about diversifying yoga in London and working to make yoga practise in London more accessible to all.
Lisa having travelled extensively as a croupier, returned to England and graduated with BSc Environmental Science and Law degree. Over the years she have worked for both the private and public sectors but have a keen interest with charity-based work.
She is am now a student of the British Wheel of Yoga ‘Women of Colour’ Diploma 4 Yoga Teacher Training and passionate about making yoga affordable and accessible to all. Lisa is a volunteer for the Hestia Charity, where she teaches weekly yoga classes and have recently completed the Chakra and Aura Healing diploma.
Kaya was first introduced to yoga and meditation at primary school. Fifteen years later and after having a child she is currently training to be a yoga teacher. Kaya values how the practice made her feel during and after her pregnancy, it allowed her to connect within and loved the way it felt after participating in yoga classes.As a trainee yoga teacher her intention is to help people heal from within and dealing with issues that are not no longer serving them. As well as encouraging people to freely express themselves and tune into their bodies. Kaya wish for her students is to reconnect with themselves on a deeper level so they realise the importance of tuning into their body and mind
