Bringing Strength to our Practice
This workshop will look at the principles and reasons for working with strength in asana, teaches specific techniques to develop strength in key areas, and how to move in and out of asana using strength. Bringing strength into our physical practice allows us to be safe.
Zoe says "In my experience seasoned practitioners and yoga teachers are already incredibly flexible but sometimes not so strong. Yet we need to have the necessary strength to support the joints.”
This will be a day of activity and discussion, perfect for developing your own practice but also beneficial for teachers in terms of teaching your own classes.
Do remember to have a yoga belt and blocks for the workshop
About the Tutor
Zoe is a Diploma Course Tutor for the British Wheel of Yoga and has served on the Training Committee for many years as DCT Training Officer.
With over 40 years of yoga practice with many different teachers from a variety of traditions, her fundamental approach is to build strength as the cornerstone of practice and from there all poses become possible. Asana are broken down and analysed. Zoe looks at the muscles that need to be strong or flexible and works in detail gradually building up the components of a pose.
Zoe has taken the additional BWY modules in Pranayama and Pregnancy. As well as running regular yoga classes, the Foundation Course, Teacher Training and travelling round the country giving Workshops and taking In Service Training, Zoe runs regular yoga holidays in warm sunny countries.
