Masterclass: An Introduction to the Scaravelli - inspired Approach to Yoga Practice

23rd February 2019
at Fresh Ground

Masterclass: An Introduction to the Scaravelli - inspired Approach to Yoga Practice

Tutor: Sarah Linsey and Bridget Thornborrow

Date: 23rd February 2019

Time: 10:00 - 16:00

Location: Fresh Ground

Type of Event: Other

Places Available: 4

In this masterclass Sarah and Bridget will explore Vanda Scaravelli’s three key principles of ground, breathe and release in all four movement patterns of the spine - flexion, extension, side-bending and rotation. We will apply these principles in a variety of asana including supine, standing poses and balances, prone backarches and inversions. Exploring what we mean by "grounding” we will examine the importance of freedom in the feet for finding support from below in order to create length through the spine. There will be some experiential group/pair work in order to clarify how we find this in ourselves and in others.

Sarah Linsey
Sarah attended her first yoga class in London with Julie Friedeberger. She loved the peace she found in yoga compared to her job in TV production. She went on to train as a teacher with the LYTTG. Sarah teaches a weekly programme of yoga classes in Kent. She has been a trainer with Christiane Kerr on the Calm for Kids teacher training courses since 2009. Sarah is particularly interested in how mindfulness compliments the way we teach Scaravelli inspired yoga.

Bridget Thornborrow
Bridget has been practising yoga for over 20 years. She trained with Chloe Fremantle and Anne-Marie Zulkahari on the two year, BWY accredited teacher training. She also studies with Giovanni Felicionni. Bridget teaches weekly classes in East London. She is the co-director of the LYTTG Introductory Courses with Sarah Linsey and co-runs the LYTTG Deepen Your Practice
