TAKING YOUR YOGA PRACTICE TO A DEEPER LEVEL
This course is designed for anyone who would like to take their yoga practice to a deeper level and learn more about the different aspects of yoga. It’s the ideal course for those who have been attending a regular yoga class for some time and are interested in and find benefit from practicing. It presents an opportunity to gain a broader understanding of yoga while sharing the journey with like-minded people.
The Foundation Course includes coverage of:
- Yoga traditions and recent developments in India and in the UK
- A range of postures (asana) and some sequencing work
- Various breathing and pranayama techniques
- Concentration, meditation and hand gestures
- Relaxation techniques and their place in the Western yoga tradition
- How yoga works at levels beyond the body
- Tools to design personal practice
- The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali
- Applications of yoga in everyday life
In addition to the full foundation course syllabus, this particular course includes introductions to Ayurveda and Mindfulness.
Two years of yoga class attendance with a qualified and experienced yoga teacher, British Wheel of Yoga membership
Jackie Dyson spent many years in the corporate world and has been teaching yoga full time since 2012. She has run numerous Foundation Courses and leads specialist Master Classes in Yoga Philosophy. Jackie teaches beginners’ yoga at Yogamoo in Reigate, holds classes in the workspace, and runs regular retreats in Europe and India.
Cathy-Mae Karelse has taught the BWY Foundation and Diploma courses for many years. She pioneered the BWY Modules for Ayurveda and Mindfulness. Cathy-Mae has vast knowledge and experience of Yoga, Mindfulness, Ayurveda and Wellbeing and in 2019 was awarded a PhD (SOAS) for her research on ‘Secular Mindfulness in the US and UK’.
Jackie and Cathy have been teaching the BWY Foundation Course together since 2015 sparking curiosity, encouraging inquiry and creating communities as people come together to engage in this wonderful exploration of yoga.
