The BWY Foundation Course Level 1 is designed to explore yoga in more depth than you could in a normal weekly class. You will explore and examine in detail the techniques of asana (postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises) and basic meditation in such a way that you can develop your own practise. It also includes topics such as The History of Yoga, different paths and traditions of yoga and much more!!
No particular fitness, flexibility or strength is required to do this course! The course is for everyone who would like to develop their knowledge and experience of yoga further. Just some basic experience and enthusiasm is required - so please feel happy to make your application regardless of age or ability.
The course is primarily one to encourage self-development, though it also forms the start of the process of teacher training, so is especially useful for those who may wish to go onto teacher training in the future.
The course is about 50/50 practical and theoretical. There are no exams and homework is optional, though self- practice is encouraged.
I think this is a fabulous course. It was my introduction to personal practice of yoga, and it led me on to teacher training. It’s a real treat to take time out of your normal routine, and do something for yourself, and a great way to make new friends too. I am so pleased to be able to run this course for others. Let it be the start of your yoga journey.
The course will be run on 20 Saturday mornings
