BWY Foundation Course 1 with Tracy Harris

Thursday evenings, weekly from November 2020 to July 2021 (term-time only); plus two Sundays at the start and end of the course.

About the course:

I am delighted to offer the British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course at my home studio in Horsham, West Sussex from November 2020 to July 2021. This course will be a mixture of on-line Zoom sessions and in-person teaching, due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic. I am offering the course weekly on Thursday evenings, plus two Sunday sessions at the start and towards the end of the course. There are no sessions during school holidays.
This is a structured 60-hour course, certified by the BWY, covering aspects of yoga practice, philosophy and theory that will take your yoga practice to a deeper level.

What you will learn:

During the sessions you will experience and learn about:
benefits of postures, why and how to incorporate them into a balanced home personal practice;
breathing and pranayama practices to balance and enhance energy levels,
different relaxation methods and their relevance in yoga.
techniques for meditation and concentration.
aspects of yoga often unexplored in classes, such as mudra, bandha, and kriya (cleansing practices),

You will also learn about the fascinating history and philosophy of yoga and other features such as the yogic body, including chakras and nadis, plus anatomy in postures.

There are no formal assessments and you will receive a BWY Foundation Course Certificate for attendance of 80% or more of the course. You will be encouraged and supported to continue a regular yoga practice, home study and practice, though there is no formal homework.

Who can apply:

The course is open to all yoga students who have had a regular practice for 2 years or more. Yoga students from all styles and traditions of yoga are welcome.

This course is perfect for existing yoga students who wish to deepen their practice, develop a sustainable home practice and find out more about yoga practices, including relaxation, concentration and meditation.  The course also provides a wonderful foundation for anyone considering whether yoga teacher training is for them.
