Information about the Course:

Mental illness, as we’re all aware, is on the increase.

Covid has exposed so many social tensions and pressures all of which add to mental ill-health.

Yoga can help!

This Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England training for Yoga Teachers and Practitioners is the full MHFA course AND it helps you understand the role Yoga plays in improving mental health and how you can detect, respond appropriately and support anyone presenting with mental illness.

The course covers multiple topics ranging from anxiety and eating disorders to bipolar and schizophrenia. You will learn the MHFA Action Plan which equips you for professional, family, and social contexts.

You will also learn about polyvagal theory and how to resource through Yoga practices to support your own mental health and that of your community’s.

The course combines some theory with practice and application.

MHFA England will provide you with a comprehensive manual and workbook which we’ll work through on the course. You will also receive an electronic handbook to support the yoga theory and practice components. In addition, you complete ±10 hours’ worth of work outside of our online sessions, guided by videos and worksheets on Enably, the delivery platform.

15 contact hours will be delivered over five mornings spread over two weeks to give you time to complete the self-directed study in the afternoons or over weekends.

This course is double-accredited:

·       you will receive an MHFA Certificate valid for three years.

·       You will also receive a BWY Certificatewhich will contribute significantly to your understanding of Yoga, your calibre as a Yoga Teacher, and to CPD requirements.

As a Mental Health First Aider, you will also have access to First Aider networks and regular updates from MHFA England.
