This BWYQ Level 4 Certificate in Teaching Gentle Years Yoga (GYY) course uses a ‘blended learning’ model comprised of:
UNIT 1: 42 hours (4 credits) - E-learning theory to be done at home with interactive videos and written worksheets submitted by email, to be completed prior to 8 October.
To be conducted by BWY DCT Rosemary Bennett, a GYY tutor and experienced GYY Teacher who taught online GYY classes during two waves of the Research Trial.
Upon successful completion and quality assurance of the assessments for Units 1 and 2 (126 hours or 13 credits), you will be able to submit a claim for the BWYQ Level 4 Certificate in Teaching Gentle Years Yoga, a national qualification on Ofqual’s Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
You will also be placed on the Gentle Years Yoga register so that interested agencies, health commissioners and/or social prescribers will be able to locate you as one of the fully qualified Gentle Years Yoga teachers.
PREQUISITE
Level 3 Teaching Yoga qualification or equivalent (any tradition).
NATIONAL OCCUPATIONAL STANDARDS:
Adapting physical activity for older adults including adults at risk or those with disabilities (SKAEF).
SAFEGUARDING ADULTS:
Learning how to protect adults at risk when teaching in the community, residential care home or online.RECOGNISED PRIOR LEARNING:

If you think you already have credits for a Unit, you can apply for Recognised Prior Learning via an application form provided by the tutor.

£660 in total is payable in full to BWY upon acceptance to the course.

Please bring your own lunch and snacks. A small kitchen is available to use and hot drinks will be available.Start of Unit 1 – you can start the Unit 1 coursework as soon as your application has been approved and you have registered for the course. Ideally you need to have completed the 42 hours prior to the Unit 2 start on 8 October. Unit 1 takes 1-3 months for most people, but during lockdown some students accomplished it in 2 weeks.
Unit 2 practical days with tutor – 8-9 October, 5-6 November and 3 or 4 December at the venue from 9:30 to 4:30
Students will then plan and deliver a 6-week course with one session to be assessed.
