DCT Weekend: 9 - 10 September 2022
Tutor: Training Committee
Date: 9th September 2022 - 10th September 2022
Time: 16:00 - 16:30
Tickets now available until 10 August.
DCT Weekend is held annually for two main reasons:
- Fulfil our compulsory standardisation work in order that we remain on the DCT register.
- Learn from one another, discuss the latest developments in training and meet one another.
Please book your tickets early to help us plan the event so that everyone gets as much out of the gathering as possible.
We have shortened the weekend so that it will start on Friday late afternoon and finish on the Saturday late afternoon, to make this more accessible for everyone in terms of time commitment and cost.
(IQAs and GYY Assessors in Training: you will need to arrive earlier on Friday afternoon and details will be forwarded shortly.)
The cost per person is £130 to include supper and your room on Friday night, and breakfast and lunch on the Saturday - with refreshments during the day too.
There are two ticket options:
- DCT Weekend - £130
Refreshments, dinner and single occupancy room on Friday
Breakfast, morning and afternoon refreshments and lunch on Saturday
- DCT Weekend + Saturday night - £219
As above, plus:
Dinner and second night in the same room on Saturday
Breakfast on Sunday
The full timetable and details about the standardisation work will be shared in due course.
Venue: The Olde Barn Hotel, Toll Bar Road, Marston Lincs NG32 2HT - www.theoldebarnhotel.co.uk
It is easiest to get to The Olde Barn Hotel by car, being situated just off the A1 between Grantham and Newark, with plenty of parking on site. For those travelling on the A1 from the south, please continue north past the Marston and come off at the Long Bennington exit to use the roundabout and head back towards Marston on the southbound A1 - this avoids a difficult crossing over the A1.
For those not wishing/able to drive, the nearest train stations are Grantham and Newark Northgate or Newark Castle. We would encourage you to use the BWY DCT Facebook Group to offer/request car shares or taxi fares to and from the stations. If you are unable to access Facebook, please email Katherine on firstname.lastname@example.org and she will post one on your behalf.
The food will be vegetarian and there will be plant-based milk alternatives available. If you have any other dietary requirements or allergies, please email Katherine (email@example.com) with the details.
There is a pool which is free for you to use and a spa. If you would like to book any treatments, please book and pay for these direct with the hotel: call 01400 250 909 or email firstname.lastname@example.org, quoting: E0128.
Keeping your DCT Licence Current
DCT training awards a licence to teach which must be kept current through standardisation sessions. Standardisation is an ongoing process throughout the year taking place remotely with the support of the QAO and also takes place as part of IQA activities. It is reinforced by training materials provided online and through ongoing EQA activities with the Awarding Organisation (AO). Standardisation exercises also take place in person at DCT weekend, usually scheduled for September in each year.
Attendance at the whole weekend is compulsory.
All DCTs who are running a course or intend to run a course in the future need to remain current with standardisation throughout.
One extra alternative standardisation meeting date per year will be offered by BWYT to those unable to attend DCT weekend due to exceptional circumstances. This would be at the DCTs own expense. DCTs who do not keep their licence current will be transferred to the list of retired DCTs. Attendance at DCT weekend and completion of ongoing standardisation would be required before a DCT could be re-instated should they wish to run a course in the future.
The Training Committee is planning for this alternative standardisation meeting to take place later in autumn 2022 and will be delivered via Zoom at a cost of £75.00 per DCT.
