Information about the course

The course is held in a large purpose built yoga studio on the outskirts of Canterbury. The
main tutors will be Cora Kemball-Cook and Lina Newstead who are both qualified diploma
course tutors who have between them run many Foundation courses and teacher training
courses.
This course is designed to deepen your knowledge and understanding of yoga to help your
personal practice flourish.
It is aimed at students who have been attending a yoga class regularly for approximately 2
years or longer. It includes practical and theoretical work, including: the ethical foundations
of yoga, asana (postures), pranayama (breathing practices), relaxation, concentration and
meditation practices and yoga philosophy. We will also cover the history of yoga, and some
of the main paths and schools of yoga. It includes private tutorials with tutors which may be
done by phone/Skype.
The course is designed to explore yoga in much more depth than you would in an average
class. As part of the course, you can expect to develop the confidence and knowledge to
build and develop your own personal yoga practice as well as to gain a much deeper insight
into the aspects of yoga that are not posture-based. Reflection, inquiry and discussion will
be a significant part of the course days as well as the practice of the 8 limbs of yoga. Former
students have found the foundation courses taught at the studio life-changing. The course is
also highly recommended as a foundation before undertaking yoga teacher training (and a
requirement for BWY teacher training) but is also open to those purely interested in self
development.
