We are so excited to share this children’s mindfulness course and hope you will want to join us on this mindfulness journey.
Mindfulness is an old ancient tradition that has been practiced for over 2,500 years. Mindfulness is about focusing our mind (monkey mind) on our senses, improving resilience, concentration, focus, determination and reducing anxiety. This course has been designed for anyone who would, not only want to gain more knowledge and understanding of mindfulness, but strategies to use with children in your care.
The course is delivered by Katie who has over 20 years’ experience working with young children and 8 years’ experience practicing mindfulness, yoga and meditation. Katie is a qualified primary teacher,
Hatha yoga, children’s yoga and trained MBSR mindfulness teacher.
We hope by the end of the course you will feel as passionate and excited to share these mindful tool as we are!
Mindfulness has a massive impact on children’s well-being. If children are given the skills such as breathing techniques, massage, meditation, self- esteem and sensory activities to support their emotional development this will help them deal with difficult emotions and anxiety which can make some children feel overwhelmed. Building children’s confidence and self- esteem has a massive impact on their learning and cognitive development.
If a child has a low mind set and low self-worth they find it difficult to concentrate therefore mindfulness and meditation improves focus and determination.
The government is introducing a health education into the curriculum from 2020 including mindfulness therefore this course will benefit anyone wanting to increase their personal development in this area. During the course we focus on specific areas such as:
• The history of mindfulness
• Mindfulness tools
• How children learn
• Children’s mental health
• Mindfulness strategies to use in the classroom
There will be a written lesson plan assessment and observation to demonstrate understanding. The aim of this course is to provide a clear and excellent understanding of what mindfulness is that will not only support your mental health as an adult, improving resilience and reducing anxiety, but also provide you with a range of engaging and useful strategies to use with the children in your care.
We look forward to having you on our course!
Love and light
