Tutor: Richard Kravetz
Date: 14th June 2020
Time: 10:00 - 16:00
The workshop will provide you with the necessary tools to help yourself towards more activity or guide the elderly or less-abled towards maintaining a degree of mobility through movement and to allow a sense of well-being through the practice of yoga.
To establish different ways of adapting yoga to help make a difference to the lives of those who experience difficulty taking part in a mainstream class.
To create an optimum environment for classes to become engaging, interactive and supportive to a wider population.
To learn and experience how anti-rheumatic methods help release tension in the limbs and joints.
To explore simple pranayama and chanting techniques to help alleviate stress and anxiety often encountered by these populations.
To participate in a simulated chair yoga class for non-ambulatory people.
To observe how props such as chairs, blocks, and belts enhance the quality of the experience and how specific practices can be introduced effectively.
The primary focus is to demonstrate how movements and postures can be adjusted and used to become accessible for those with reduced mobility.
Having completed this workshop you will have the capacity to encourage yourself or another person with limited mobility, to explore their potential in becoming physically, emotionally and psychologically stronger.
