Mental health conditions are presenting in alarming numbers in society today.

This day explores case studies that highlight more common mental health illnesses such as major depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, personality disorders, psychosis and trauma.

You will learn a variety of safe self-compassion practices whilst learning those that are contraindicated. The day encourages a ‘person centred’, ‘no one cure fits all’ approach.

Aims of the Day

  1. To improve knowledge and understanding of common mental health conditions such as: anxiety and depression; PTSD; eating disorders; personality disorders; psychosis; and substance abuse.
  2. To further knowledge of how stress impacts on mental health.
  3. To understand extremes of yogic brahmanic (hyper) and languanic (hypo) states of mental health relating to anxiety and depression.
  4. To explore which types of yoga therapy practices can improve certain mental health conditions and which are contraindicated

Learning Outcomes

  1. To be more confident in recognising mental health conditions as listed in the Aims of the Day.
  2. To be more adept at choosing suitable practises for specific mental health conditions.
