International Day of Yoga Celebration


You are invited to join the BWY North West Committee to celebrate yoga at this annual event.


Kate Knowles will share a morning of yoga with us, based upon the award winning Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs course.  The morning will include asana that may ease lower back pain, build strength and improve flexibility.  If you have a sedentary job, this event will be ideal for you with poses that can be incorporated within your daily routine.  Even if you don’t have back problems, this will be an informative and enjoyable yoga session in its own right.


The poses are gentle and progressive, so the morning will be accessible for the majority of people and all levels of experience.  Please contact Kate if you have queries over the suitability of the event.


We will also share a meditation practice, some restorative yoga poses and yoga nidra.


Please have a sturdy chair (preferably without arms), access to wall space (or a door), your yoga mat, block, belt, two pillows, two cushions and a blanket.


10:00-11:30 – chair based poses, standing poses, balances, pranayama and meditation


11:45-13:00 – floor based poses, restorative yoga and yoga nidra.


The Zoom code will be emailed on the 18thJune.

About Kate Knowles

Kate qualified with the BWY in 2007, and has been teaching since 2004, having trained with Rosemary Bennett (Swami Premananda). Kate has also undertaken additional training in Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs with Alison Trewhela; Yoga for People living with Cancer with Julie Friedeberger; Baby Yoga with Marion O’Connor (Birthlight); Yin / Yang yoga with Debbie Radcliffe; Anatomy for Yoga with Leslie Kaminoff; Yoga and the Sacred Feminine with Reva: Menopause Yoga with Petra Coveney and Yoga for Menopause with Francoise Freedman. (Birthlight). Kate also teaches chair based yoga classes. Kate is the BWY County Rep for North Wales. Kate's classes are gentle, with stronger movements available for those who want them. A variety of yogic themes are explored from week to week. Classes focus on health and wellbeing with class participants offered suggestions for home practice. The overall aim is for people to leave class feeling better than when they arrived ! For more information see
