Support Direction Space: The cultivation of spaciousness in Yoga

Tutor: Dave Charlton

Date: 18th September 2021

Time: 09:30 - 15:30

Location: Online on Zoom

Type of Event: Other

Places Available: 13

Join us for a day of Yoga (with plenty breaks) on Zoom with Dave Charlton on the theme of Support, Direction and Space : The cultivation of spaciousness in Yoga. This will be a relaxed paced day of philosophical discussion and practice. This workshop will draw on Dave's years of study and practical observations from Patanjali's Yoga Sutra. We will recap on April's workshop theme : the nature of support and the direction that follows when we accept support.  Adding to this, we will explore in more depth the cultivation of spaciousness that opens up from taking support and direction. We look forward to examining these themes and how they inform our day-to-day yoga practice.

For those attending:
This workshop is suitable both as a follow-up continuation for those who attended April’s 'Support, Direction & Space' event OR if you are completely new to this subject. Ideal for student teachers, teachers and anyone who practices yoga who wishes to deepen their understanding of yoga philosophy. This workshop is suitable for all ages, abilities and levels of experience. It is open to BWY Members and Non-Member guests are extremely welcome.

About Dave Charlton:
Dave is a Yoga tutor, scholar and co-author of the highly acclaimed book ‘Embodying the Yoga Sutra’ he co-wrote with Ranju Roy. He has studied Buddhism, Sanskrit, Vedic chanting and Yoga philosophy for over 30 years. Trained with Paul Harvey and Peter Hersnack, both students of TKV Desikachar, Dave himself trains teachers through Sadhana Mala Yoga Training.  As an observation of April's workshop, Dave has a very easy and engaging style and he offers extremely practical insights for you to build your everyday practice upon, irrespective of how familiar you are with the Yoga Sutras and Yoga philosophy.
