Song of the Heart ( An IST/CPD Yoga retreat course)
Online IST course over 2 days (2 ½ hour session per day) via ZOOM
Course tutor: Rajesh David
Love and compassion are innate; they only need to be given the opportunity for expression. Song of the Heart focuses on the Heart Centre as a way of deepening our meditation practice. The course explores the symbolism and meaning of Anahata Chakra. Through visualization, mantra chanting, drawing, colouring, and meditation practice, we will deepen our understanding and open our heart to intuition and insight. Practices will be suggested for awakening the joy and wisdom of the heart, and exploring our emotional landscapes, including feelings such as appreciation, kindness and forgiveness. Such practices have the potential to heal the heart and transform negative emotions such as fear and resentment into friendliness and compassion.
A practice of meditation will be developed based on the concepts and techniques covered during the day, opening the heart and focusing on the Inner Witness.
Working on heart-centred practices has the potential to lead one to a state of deep relaxation, expanded awareness and inner stability.
The course will focus on:
·Reflecting on the meaning and symbolism of the Heart Chakra
·Working with asana, mudra and pranayama to sensitize the Anahata Chakra
·Sensitizing the heart chakra through mantra chanting, drawing/colouring and meditation
·Exploring feelings of appreciation, kindness and forgiveness
·Exploring Heart Intelligence for a deeper understanding of our emotional landscape
·Reflection on the Heart Chakra through the practice of Yoga Nidra
·Developing a heart-centred meditation practice with emphasis on the Inner Witness
·Appreciating the sensitivity of heart-centred techniques in our meditation practice
Conducted over 2 days, this course gives an opportunity to participants to reflect on the subject and deepen their understanding.
The course will be in the format of a Yoga retreat, where participants will be encouraged to experience yogic practices such as Karma Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Svadhyaya (self-study), Mouna (period of silence) and morning chanting & meditation outside teaching hours.
A suggested programme (time table) will be given to participants to follow at home. The time table is a guideline, which participants can adjust to suit their particular circumstances.
