Exploration of OM

Overview

In this half-day, online, workshop we’ll explore the sacred sound and symbol of OM through the practices of asana, pranayama, mudra, mantra, chanting, meditation and yoga nidra. The workshop will be mostly practical and experiential but underpinned and intertwined with yoga philosophy.  Drawing on wisdom from the ancient yogic texts in particular The Upanisads and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.  Leave feeling soothed, nurtured and connected to the vibration of OM!  

 

Aims

To explore and deepen your understanding of OM through yogic philosophy.

To explore and deepen your connection to OM through various yoga practices.

To explore the importance and benefits of OM and why it may be helpful to incorporate into your practice and/or teaching.


Objectives

Participants will have a greater understanding of OM from a philosophical perspective. 

Participants will be able to undertake a range of practices incorporating the OM.

Participants will be able to experience the benefits of practicing OM.   

 

Other Information

The workshop will be delivered online via Zoom.  It is suitable for practitioners and teachers who would like to deepen their understanding and connection to OM and incorporate into their practice and/or teaching.  Participants will be on mute for the OM chanting but encouraged to chant at home (externally or internally) or just listen if preferred.  

Timings (10am - 1pm)

10am  Welcome and introduction to the day including philosophical concepts of OM

10.30am Warm ups to prepare for practice

10.45am Pranava Pranayama with mudra and sound (A-U-M)

11.15am Asana including OM chanting

12pm Meditation on OM

12.15pm Short Break

12.30pm  OM Yoga Nidra

1pm  Close

 

About the Tutor

Anna Knowles is a British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course Tutor holding the 500hr Teaching Diploma along with a BWY Yoga Nidra Teaching Certificate and Menopause Yoga Certification.  Her aim is to provide a welcoming and safe space for individuals to explore their inner landscape through yoga, mindful movement, sound and deep relaxation.​

 

Anna's teaching is inspired by annual visits to India (since 2014) to study with her teacher Gurudev Shri Ojaswi Sharma, Gurudev resided in Jaipur until his passing on 2nd January 2018.  She continues to travel to Jaipur each year with fellow seekers to gather together in Sangha, passing on the spiritual teachings through her classes and workshops.
