10am Welcome and Introduction.  
How yoga and meditation helps you discover the true self?
10.30 – 12.30pm The practice:   
Floor, sitting, standing and inverted asana work with a strong breath focus to release the body.  Pranayama exploration and  breath focussed relaxation asana to release the mind.
Sitting still:   Looking at the classical ways of sitting upright so that the body is alert, comfortable and able to sustain itself quietly and without movement.
Meditation:  A breath focussed sitting practice for 20 mins.
12.30pm Questions and Answers
1pm Lunch
2pm Short rest followed by stretching and meditation.
2.30pm Pair work
to take part in a listening exercise to experience the difficulties of listening - and of forgetting the self.
3pm Your reflections,  questions and answers and 
…   what is the fundamental meaning of compassion?  When yoga and meditation is practiced in true compassion
can it change the world?
3.30pm Tea and suggested books, hand out of teaching materials and evaluation.

4pm Departure

About the tutor

Sandy Chubb was Director of The Prison Phoenix Trust, the charity she first joined in 1989 to teach yoga to young offenders at HMYOI Aylesbury. She is a qualified Albion Yoga Teacher and British Wheel of Yoga Teacher and spent 23 years teaching in prisons and secure hospitals all over the UK and Ireland and abroad. She left The PPT in 2010 to become an Assistant Zen Teacher with Sanbo Zen school of Meditation, Kamakura, Japan, and  was accredited as an Authentic Sanbo-Zen Teacher in 2013.  She teaches Zen at the Oxford Zen Centre (www  each week and at the London Jizo Centre.   She co-authored Becoming Free Through Meditation and Yoga, Freeing The Spirit Through Yoga and Meditation and Yoga Without Words, books sent free on request to prisoners and prison officers to help them in their daily practice. She teaches a weekly yoga and meditation class on Wednesday evenings from 7pm-9pm at Crowmarsh Pavilion, Wallingford, Oxon, and accepts yoga and meditation invitations to teach one off days.
