General: Journey Towards Virabhadrasana 1
Tutor: Zoe Knott/Hugh Grainger
Date: 16th January 2021
Time: 10:00 - 15:45
This asana is dedicated to the powerful hero, Virabhadra, created by Siva from his matted hair. In the morning we will enjoy an all-round practice to strengthen and open the body led by Zoe. This will also include a focus on upper body movement and some additional back bending. After lunch we will listen to the tale of the history of this posture narrated with aplomb by Hugh before we work towards the final stages of the posture and may also look at the other 2 warrior poses.
Zoe is a Diploma Course Tutor and Hugh a BWY Teacher and both have over 30 years of yoga experience apiece with an eclectic range of teachers from a variety of traditions. Their fundamental approach is to build strength as the cornerstone of practice. Asana are broken down and analysed so you understand the areas that need to be strong and flexible. Many BWY members will have worked with this lively couple and will be familiar with their clear, detailed, precise and accessible style of teaching, which is always stimulating, original and open-hearted.
