CPD - Lotus Voice Exploring Effective Communication For Teachers

Join us on this day to explore the skills needed understand how to care for and improve your voice technically, as well as how to express yourself openly and effectively as a yoga teacher. Being able to lead a class and give instructions clearly and with an embodied presence and authority is a part of our journey as teachers. Find inclusivity in your teaching using language and tone. During the day we will experience the basics of vocal projection, intonation and inflections as well as exploring your own natural voice, presence and unique value as a teacher. Participants will be expected to learn a nursery rhyme prior to the event to use in one of the the practical session.

Bram trained in many styles and forms of yoga over more than 15 years, including with the BWY, and his own teaching approach is flexible and adaptable to the needs of a particular group (or individual). The emphasis of his teaching vocabulary stresses breath release, so awareness is directed to the sensation of the posture, rather than on a body aesthetic or idealised end result. He is a Foundation Course Tutor and Trainee Diploma Course Teacher with the BWY and a senior yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance UK. Having taught a lively, productive and successful CPD day for the SE Region in 2021, we are pleased that he has designed this new topic following responses on the evaluation forms for the 2021 event.

Summary

About Bram WILLIAMS

My name is Bram Williams. My principle current teacher is from the Mahasiddha Yoga School in Oxford, with whom I undertook my British Wheel of Yoga Diploma. Most of the practical, ethical and philosophical study was held at the Samye Ling Buddhist Centre in London, while also attending regular classes in the Kashmir Style of Yoga, in Tai Chi and in Kum Nye (Tibetan Healing Practices). My own daily yoga practice has evolved over the years into a subtle, meditative approach to asana (yoga posture) with a large emphasis on pranayama (breath control) as a lead into seated meditation. Studying in mindfulness, and both Shamatha and Vipassana meditation at SRSG (a respected yoga college) in Northern India means I am fortunate to have contact with my teacher there, as well as studying with teachers from the Himalayan Institute in America. I also undertook the BWY Meditation Modules with BWY Diploma Course Tutor Maarten Vermasse. I also studied Mindfulness, Meditation and Lojong with Michael Stone. Having trained in many styles and forms of yoga over more than 15 years, my own teaching approach is flexible and adaptable to the needs of a particular group (or individual). The emphasis of my teaching vocabulary stresses breath release, so awareness is directed to the sensation of the posture, rather than on a body aesthetic or idealised end result. I'm a Foundation Course Tutor and Trainee Diploma Course Teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga and a senior yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance UK.
