Raquel will create a safe space for exploring the concept of Fire in a practice and its purpose – the difference between Moon and Sun practices to lead us into Fire practices. She will teach in progressive stages of asana leading to challenging variations of viparita Karini mudra and headstand with the use of breath, visualization and chanting
In the afternoon, we will look at a practice of yoga nidra, Chanting and progressive pranayama practice that can be incorporated into our own practice and teaching. There will be an opportunity to use and understand the Marma points and practice
Raquel brings a wealth of knowledge to her teaching, with great attention to alignment. she empowers her students to have fun and to enquiry within, and then aiding them to empower themselves and pass onto their own students.
Originally from Africa, Raquel Alves started teaching in 1992, her teachings draw from many styles, including Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga. Raquel incorporates restorative, relaxation techniques, meditation and on occasion chanting in her classes. Raquel is qualified with Para Yoga (Rod Stryker), BWY & Sivannanda. Her personal practice draws on her current teacher's teachings, she also assists Rod when he is teaching in Europe. Raquel is currently a BWY Foundation tutor as well as Tutor and Mentor on the Yoga Campus Teacher Training Programme
