1. Give participants a theoretical and practical understanding of Pranayama as a logical and sequential process moving through the first two phases of practice: Foundations and Developmental.
2. Give participants an understanding of the relationship between these two phases and the reasons underpinning their progression

Objectives

1. Participants will be able to identify the distinctive practices of each phase

2. Participants will feel the effects of certain practices from each phase and be able to identify their strengths and/or weaknesses concerning each phase in terms of breath control and retention

Aims of the Afternoon

1. Give participants a theoretical and practical understanding of Pranayama as a logical and sequential process moving through the final three phases of practice: Alignment, Purification and Classical.
2. Give participants an understanding of the relationship between all five phases and the reasons underpinning their progression.

1. Participants will be able to identify the distinctive practices of each phase.
2. Participants will feel the effects of certain practices from each phase and be able to identify their strengths and/or weaknesses concerning each phase.
 

About the Tutor

Originally trained with Swami Gitananda in Pondicherry 1981
BA (Hons) Lancaster University, Comparative Religion, 1984
BWY Dip 1985
Founded Yoga Quests 1986 running many Courses throughout the UK and abroad.
Devised and produced the Pranayama 1 year Foundation Course in 2000 which runs as the Pranayama Module for the BWY.
Philp has been teaching Yoga and pranayama for over 30 years. His main focus is Pranayama: the safe, structured and progressive practice and teaching thereof without losing any of the power and potency inherent in all forms of Pranayama.
All of the IST Days are focussed on Pranayama but also include relevant Asana and relaxation practices.

Please bring lunch to share, refreshments are supplied.
