Aims of the morning
To introduce the key features of back pain from a Western perspective.
To practise an asana sequence to manage and prevent back pain.
By the end of the morning, students will be able to....
1. Discuss the key causes of back pain.
2. Practice key exercices and asanas that help to manage back pain.
Aims of the afternoon
To focus on the Ayurvedic perspective of back pain and how it relates to Vata imbalances.
By the end of the afternoon students will be able to....
1. Discuss the basic principles of Ayurveda with reference to Vata imbalances.
2. Identify the causes of Vata imbalance with reference to diet and lifestyle.
3.Apply Ayurvedic principles to the management of back pain including Diet, Herbs, Postures, Pranayama, Marma points and Meditation.
Outline plan for the day.
10.00- Introduction to causes and features of back pain
10.30- Gentle asana practice to manage back pain and aggravated Vata conditions in general.
1.45- Ayurvedic perspective on back pain and how to manage vata imbalances.
3.00- How to use diet/herbs, Marma points and meditation to manage back pain.
3.30- Yoga nidra for back pain
3.50 - Meditation
4.00 - Finish
About the tutor.
Tarik has been teaching yoga for 16 years and Ayurveda for 10 years. He is a DCT, BWY Diploma holder and has an honours degree in Ayurveda. He runs an Ayurvedic clinic in central London.
