Wellness After Covid. A Virtual Symposium. May 28 – 30 2021

Please note for any BWY member whose earnings have been affected by Covid there is a 50% discount.

The Give Back Yoga Foundation and the Yoga in Healthcare Alliance have joined forces to curate Wellness After Covid, a three-day symposium that will explore how yoga can aid recovery from Long Covid, improve mental health and support overstretched healthcare systems around the globe . It will highlight cutting-edge research on the therapeutic benefits of yoga and its applications to COVID-19.

The ground-breaking event features an esteemed line-up of speakers, including celebrities such as Deepak Chopra and Eddie Stern, academic researchers from Harvard Medical School and Imperial College London, and the President of Royal College of Psychiatrists. Presentations highlight work from across the disciplinary spectrum — from medicine and public health to complementary healthcare and yoga therapy — in an international effort to foster collaboration and disseminate findings.

With regards to the pandemic, a growing body of evidence suggests yoga can ease mental health challenges exacerbated by social isolation, as well as reduce inflammatory markers, chronic pain, and fatigue: which may be particularly relevant to the treatment of Long COVID.

The schedule includes research presentations, panel discussions and clinical demonstrations with a focus on:

How yoga can help mitigate the biological, psychological and social consequences of COVID-19

Therapeutic yoga practices that have been shown to reduce anxiety, depression, breathlessness,    fatigue, emotional stress, burn-out and common symptoms associated with Long COVID

How the pandemic has worsened existing health inequalities, and the role yoga can play in              making  a difference.

How yoga and health professionals can collaborate to transform public health policy, with the aim of integrating yoga in National COVID-Recovery Plans.

Key Presenters Include: Deepak Chopra, MD, FACP; Stephen Porges, PhD;  Sat Bir Singh Khalsa, PhD; Shirley Telles, PhD; Richard Brown, MD; Patricia Gerbarg, MD; Robin Rothenberg, C-IAYT; Lord Clive Brooke;  Eddie Stern; Patrick McKeown; Adrian James (President, Royal College of Psychiatry).

Symposium Hosts: The Yoga in Healthcare Alliance is a registered charity in the UK, and the Give Back Yoga Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation in the United States and a registered charity in the United Kingdom.

Collectively, they have a shared mission: to bring yoga into the healthcare system, as a means of alleviating suffering and accelerating healing for those facing illness and hardship.
