IST 19/817 Moving Through Sound Into Silence

Tutor: Lesley Isaacson

Date: 4th May 2019

Time: 10:00 - 16:00

Location: All Saints Centre

Type of Event: IST Days

Places Available: 18

About the Day

You will have the opportunity to experience a range of simple chants linked to asana for use in general yoga classes, and more meditative chants suitable for use with pranayama or meditation.  Lesley will help you to demystify the use of sound and emphasise it as a tool for increased self awareness.  She will highlight possible problems in the use of sound and discuss ways to overcome those problems.  Together you will look at the principle of vinyasa when working with sound.

You will be provided with handouts to use as an aide memoire for use in general classes, allowing you to use sound with more confidence, using it as a way of coming closer to yoga practice and closer to yourself.

About the Tutor

Lesley has been practising and teaching yoga for over 30 years. Having trained with the British Wheel of Yoga, she has since deepened her knowledge and experience of yoga by studying with a senior Iyengar teacher, many followers of the Krishnamacharya tradition and more recently she has been exploring the nurturing effects of restorative yoga. All her studies and teaching hope to provide participants with a holistic experience of yoga, to experience yoga as transforming and nourishing. Her sessions are filled with joie de vivre and consistent linking of on the mat yoga with off the mat daily life. Apart from her yoga mat, her 2 other favourite places are on her bike or on the tennis court.

Other information

The day is aimed at any teacher who wishes to broaden their teaching approach and offer their students a more integrated experience of holistic yoga. We will be working with very simple chants, so no prior chanting experience is necessary.

Please bring your own lunch.  Drinks and refreshments will be provided free of charge.
Please also bring your own yoga mats, blocks and belts.

Early Bird discount is available provided you book and pay by Saturday 23 March 2019.
